Fordson’s Chamber Choir traveled to Chelsea High School to begin a five-month Music Cultural Exchange. The overall goal of the exchange is to build relationships and break down stereotypes through music. This was the first step in the program that will include Chelsea’s choirs visiting Fordson in November, combined evening rehearsals with Chelsea’s orchestra, performing for the Village of Chelsea Hometown Holidays concert series in December, and performing in Dearborn in March.

Mrs. Harb, social worker, arranged for two Fordson alumni and Harvard graduates to come to Fordson High School and speak with students.  Our Fordson/Harvard alumni shared information regarding applying to Harvard University.

This past weekend, the Chamber Choir from Fordson joined forces with singers from Edsel Ford and the Detroit School of the Arts and performed with the National Arab Orchestra. This kind of collaboration represents the very best that music has to offer culturally and educationally.

Ms Kearney, Spanish teacher, arranged for her Spanish 3 and 4 students to talk to people from Columbia.  Students communicated solely in Spanish via Skype. Students  talked to the Mayor and asked him career related questions! It was a great exchange!

Henry Ford Elementary School continues parent education meetings this year.  The school hosted the Lebanese American Heritage Club for a healthy living presentation.

The McCollough Elementary staff provided ice cream sundaes to students who completed their summer learning.

During our initial feeder meeting, principals from the Fordson Feeder shared their understanding of the 4 questions:

1. What do we want students to know and be able to do? 
2. How do we know if students have learned?
3. How do we respond when they don’t learn? 
4. How do we respond when students have learned?
