On September 21st, Interact students joined forces with Dearborn Rotary to participate in Telegraph Clean-up. Early Saturday morning, they were picking up trash on Telegraph from Ford Road to Michigan Avenue. Thanks for keeping Dearborn clean.

As we continue to implement the Academies model to promote education with a purpose, we are assisting students in focusing dual enrollment opportunities. Here’s a neat article about a 2019 Fordson graduate who earned an IT certificate as a dual enrollment student in high school. It’s very cool that her and her brother are working together for secure 24 now. Here is a Henry Ford College article highlighting this story.
Staff from Becker Elementary hosted our sixth reading event. Students had an opportunity to hear a read aloud, make a book, take a book, get a library card and decorate rocks. Thank you to all of the staff who made this event possible and to the parents and students who attended. To date, over 650 students have participated in this summer activity. #FordsonFeederReads
This week’s Fordson Feeder Reads event was a success! Staff facilitated 6 stations and the Dearborn Public Library provided a 7th station:
There were many children and parents in attendance. Principal Srour was also present and it is evident she is already building relationships with students, parents and staff. A special “thank you” to all of the staff members who volunteered during their summer vacation to make this event a success!

Staff provided another morning of reading and literacy activities within the Fordson Feeder. Hosted at Lowrey Elementary, this is the 4th of 7 events planned by Fordson Feeder elementary schools. Next stop: July 24th from 9:30am-11:30am at Henry Ford Elementary School. Students can hear a story, participate in hands-on literacy activities and take a book. The Dearborn Public Library staff are also on site making buttons and signing up people for library cards.
Approximately 53 students came to McDonald Elementary School today to participate in Fordson Feeder Reads. Students enjoyed read alouds, making books, launchers and were able to select a book to take home. Our own Dearborn Public Library staff were also on site to allow parents to apply for library cards. Twelve staff members came to spend the morning with our students and parents too. Next stop, July 17th at Lowrey Elementary School from 9:30-11:30am. #fordsonfeederreads

Oakman Elementary School was the first site for the Fordson Feeder Literacy Pop-up. On June 19th, many teachers gave up two hours of their first week of summer vacation to provide activities centered around literacy. Students made a book, a project, heard a read-aloud and were given a book to take home. The next stop is William Ford on June 26th from 9:30-11:30am.
To attend, students must be in kindergarten thru 5th grade and accompanied by a parent.
